I’m a sucker for a good Warhammer game, but that’s not a simple proposition. There’ve been some good, some great, and some absolute shockers in the past, so it’s always a little bit of a cause for concern when there is a lot of fanfare about another game, such as there was for Rogue Trader. The good news was that this game was put together by the team behind Kingmaker, so I had a feeling that it would be pretty comprehensive – and it is that. Just like the kingmaker games, there are hours of content in the game, and pages and pages of lore, conversations and other materials to read. In some ways, it’s less Rogue Trader, and more Kingmaker: 40k or Kingmaker in the stars. But that’s not a bad thing.
The game itself places you in the role of a new Rogue Trader in the Kronus Expanse, a barely policed area of space, filled with heretics, aliens, criminals and more. There are plots and counterplots, shady dealings and lots of things going on all at the same time, as you try to manage your trading empire, but also investigate who’s beyond the assassination of your antecedent and work out what the inquisition is up to
