Well, it is fitting that, on this, the last day of 2012, I consider what I have achieved – or failed to achieve this year. Such is the nature of praxis – reflective action. Now is the time to consider what I’ve done this year, and what has been successful in order to plan what I am going to do next year.
2012 was a big year – in so many ways. Although I’m a little bit down as we approach the end of the year, I must also acknowledge that there were plenty of successes – on the whole, the year was hugely successful, and I must remember that, despite the setbacks that I have received.
So, here are some of my successes:
1) Justice Citizens Film Festival
2) ADE Conference – Cork, Ireland.
3) Crossroads in Cultural Studies Conference – Paris, France.
4) ADE Planning Conference – Bali, Indonesia.
5) Chapter published in a textbook on Civics education.
6) A paper published in Connect
7) Receiving a volunteer’s award from the Federal Govt.
8) President of the Penrith Branch of NSW ALP.
9) Becoming more involved in the NASUWT – Secretary next year.
10) Completing NANOWRIMO and ScriptFrenzy.
11) Getting good press coverage in the local papers.
12) Presenting at the We Connect Conference
13) Hip Hop for Social Justice Program
And these are my failures:
1) Not becoming AP at McCarthy or anywhere else.
2) Having a paper rejected from New Scholar.
3) Not getting a magnetic places grant for 2013.
4) Not getting much fitter.
5) Not getting my MR licence.
6) Not completing the VF course.
Lots to work on for next year, right?
