So, we recently completed our 11th episode of the McCarthy Radio Show. I think I’m beginning to get the hang of the radio show – the use of the panel is beginning to be second nature and I’ve been fortunate to have Warren working the deck lately, before I start my show, so that’s been a great opportunity for me. Warren looks like he’s worked in radio before, and I’ve picked up a few tricks watching him, so there is even less space between tracks and so on. Makes for a much smoother transition between the different segments.
Craig and I are developing a bit of a relationship, too, which is good. We’ve worked out a rhythym to our conversation which seems to run well -he chips in, I chip in. We’ve also got a bit of a banter going on, too, in an effort to make the show a little more lighthearted.
I guess the mission for us now is to build our listener base, and that’s going to be difficult, simply because of the time slot and the awareness. I don’t think many people listen to the radio on a Friday night – and certainly not our demographic, which we’ve tentatively identified as families with teenagers. This is actually an important point – who is the show’s audience? Parents? Or the students themselves? We haven’t actually decided it yet, and I think it’s holding us back.
To grow the audience in another way, we’re planning on getting interviews with people from other schools, figuring that they’ll do a little bit of promotion for us.
